BBAC meeting calendar
The 2nd Thursday of each month is our Monthly Meeting with the speakers and members gathering to catch up. The following are our currently planned speakers.
08/12/10- Summer Mini Tournament
This tournament is to be held in lieu of our normal monthly meetings at the Mattapoisett Chowder House for July and August.
The Mini Fishing Tournaments will be open to all current members of the club with the following rules:
1) Dates rain or shine; July 8th and August 12th
2) Open to all current BBAC members in good standing
3) Fishing time - 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
4) Species: Striped Bass and Bluefish
5) Weigh-in: Mattapoisett Chowder House; 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm
6) Boat and shore fishing is allowed with no geographic limit; daily fish size and catch limits shall be adhered to.
7) Prizes will be given for the largest striped Bass and Bluefish weighed-in on each day.
8) Entry Fee - $10 per fish weighed in. No fish - no fee. Two fish = $20.00
Our regular monthly speaker series will resume in September.

2nd annual "Gus Casassa" Scup Cup
The Buzzards Bay Angles Club held it's 2nd annual "Gus Casassa" Scup Cup at the Mattapoisett town wharf on Saturday, 7/17/10. The club gave away free rods and reels to the first 50 children under 12 for the annual "biggest scup" contest. Over 60 children with parents and grandparents caught scup, dogfish and monkfish. (rom right to left)1st place went to Celia Canavan of Brockton with a .175 lb fish. Her little sister Evelyn Canavan won 2nd place with a .167 lb scup, and Steven Ruhr of Abington came in 3rd with a .164 lb scup. |
Tuna Trip Recently we had a raffle for a trip for an offshore tuna trip for two. The lucky winners were Dave Barry and his son Nick.

Trash Can Derby The Trash Can Derby was a season long event that we held this year. It was a catch and release derby where we kept score based on a point system over the year. Our total overall winner was Jim O'Dowd, who also snagged the largest Striper and Bluefish of the derby!
 Congratulations again to Jim O'Dowd!
